A survival storyA Poem by Johnny A. RojasMet and lost of a girlfriend that in high school we were great friendsJersey nineteen eighty something I stand outside on a short break And you just happened to pass by Our eyes met and you looked familiar You turned around and called my name My heart started beating Since you were such a dear friend We had a summer fling Everything in the silky sheets then everything became hazy Confusing the truth for a lie A lie for the truth But sex was plenty back then So I just let the time pass us by. Decision time; did I make the right one? I would never know... I got married and then I started missing you So I went on with life playing the game Turning around on my decision making And leaving quickly out the door Nothing could detach my heart from yours I search the internet for your name But I never came close to finding you again I’m in a separate state now My heart detached from yours Wondering the stars for a sign to follow Now I know that my pride I must swallow Even though my love is stronger than pride I will give someone else a try Cause my heart needs love to survive ***Johnny A.
