Same but newA Poem by Johnny A. RojasRoutine that binds but a smile made me feel aliveMorning began with stress Alarm rings at quarter past six And with one swift move I turn to see That nothing new was waiting for me The daily routine was already bothering me That here I go once more out the door And into traffic I must face The same old crappy songs Played on my radio This morning was beginning to bother me I was thinking of calling it quits Taking a right and hitting that tree Then I remembered that there was more More of this waiting for me If I did not survive the wreck Then I will be living in misery I followed the cars on my westbound commute And hopped on the road to work I turned left and went straight To find my single parking set I turned off the car and walk To get to the clock to punch for work As soon as I crossed the street That’s when luck was facing me It gave me the biggest smile I’ve seen And made me feel the wind again Then I knew that monotony was gone And I was ready to do random things All because you smile at me It gave
me strength to proceed And conquer my boring routine. ***Johnny A. Rojas*** July 3, 2010 © 2010 Johnny A. RojasAuthor's Note
