The Girl

The Girl

A Poem by Michelle Allende
"

Written for a contest picture..

"

The scent of the rose brings memories of her inocence which she once had,

That one day it was taken away as she yelled and screamed and remembered how sad.

Knowing she would never be the same and all for a choice she never had a say,

She wonders why she had to endure and why it had to be that way.

As she grasps the rose she clenches it in her fist,

Throwing it violently as she flips it with her wrist.

She runs away in anger as the tears start to flow,

A question in which the answer she will never know.

Why did it have to be her?  Why did she have to endure,

For her first time she fantasized so much more.

She wished death, sadness and pain on the one who caused this pain,

To feel the hurt and lonliness she wished he felt the same.

What gave him the right to take away what she did not give,

She smells the rose in hopes to never again live.....
