Predestination

Predestination

A Poem by Janis Morris
"

Predestination is the theory that from the time we are born, everything in life is already arranged for us. It is the idea that it is already decided whether we will go to Heaven or Hell after we die.

"
Perchance we do find the meaning of life
Rendezvous at the time we are to die
Eternity exists only in death
Do we choose how it is we are to live
Entangled in the vicissitudes of fate
So we can not escape what does await
Trapped in what it is that we do not know
Is there any part of life in our control
Not understanding the reason to 'why'
Are we controlled by someone in the sky
There are no coincidences it seems
Is it possible for there to be only destiny
Or is there perhaps nothing quite more than
Not knowing how to live in our own hands

Author's Note

Janis Morris
This is a poem that was written a while ago and so I do not find myself changing anything. It is an acrostic poem, each line is ten syllables, and it follows the aabb format. Please enjoy.

I feel this way often. I battle with trying to find life in living and reason for reasons. I like it.

This is such a beautiful acrostic. The rhythm really does help the reader capture the meaning of this enchanting work. I can tell that you've really put a great deal of thought into the poem just simply by reading it. I had to read it a couple time to fully understand the emotion that you were trying to get across, and I applaud you for giving me something to ponder. Keep up the great work, and I look forward to reading more of your work!
