I just want to be alone

As the sun shone on the golden sand

The long boats sailed in laden with fish

Children played in the shallow waters

I looked out, but just wanted to be alone.

 

The sun set in the distance

Redness lit up the sky

The reflection shone on the ocean

I gazed out at the amazing colours before me, but I just wanted to be alone.

 

The fishermen pulled in their fruitful catch

Smiles upon their handsome faces

The children shouted to their Fathers with glee

Happiness surrounded me, but I just wanted to be alone.

 

As I stood up and looked around me

I felt my heart sink with sadness

The tears rolled down my face

I just wanted to be alone.

Something is missing... not from the poem really, but the wanting to be alone when all this good is happening means that something else is the matter.

Like the children being happy to see their fathers and maybe your father is not around... don't know I can't quite see it but there is something unsaid and there are questions unanswered and I want to know more... so you did well.. I like it.

the first 3 stanzas, i didn't perceive as wanting to be alone as sadness until the last stanza; i wondered what this heart was hiding...
