My world full of despair

You took me to a place

A place where I felt free

 

Free from a life of destruction

Free from a life of pain

Free from a life of misery

To a place full of hope and happiness

 

How amazing those feelings were

Happiness like I’ve never felt

Caring that I’d never had

Love unimaginable

 

But now it has gone again

Back to being unhappy

Feeling worthless and in pain

Back to a life of misery

 

If only we hadn’t met

Then I wouldn’t know these feelings

Feelings I will never forget

Feelings I wish would return.

it's a good old sad love poem. you could put more powerful imagery to it or add more intense words to avoid making cliches. this is a good poem but i believe that there's still room for improvement. go for it!..is all :)

What is truly unique when it comes to writing a poem or story about love is how close to the heart it is to the author. There is just something really absorbing about the way in which you can describe these feelings which creates such a strong sense of sympathy for the reader, that they'll want to keep coming back and re-read your poems.
