The Pub

The Pub

A Poem by JanieB

The Pub

They sit around in a crowded pub

Supping beer and smoking cigarettes

What a life they think they have

More like an existence, in reality.

The raucous laughter takes over

Music still blaring in the background

They shout louder to be heard

Drink more, and more to feel numb.

Their wasted lives just a blur

Always leave their wives at home

Just to be part of the crowd

Pathetic creatures of habit.

Arguing over the football results

Making sexual innuendos to the barmaid

Oh, they think they are so funny

What wasters, just real wasters!

. haha! ... what a powerful way to blow their brains out without being violent ... and while being extremely poetic ... excellent work ... and the pic is really perfect for this perfect poem ...
