Anxiety and excitement
Preparations start to take place
Nervous energy all around

The big day is upon us now
Sun shining in the blue sky above
Angels watching over
To ensure all goes according to plan

Birds tweeting in the trees
Fall has arrived now
The leaves all changing colours
Green, brown, red and orange

Nothing will stop this day
Nothing except the past
The past sometimes haunts us
Like a ghost that won’t disappear

The time has come now
Time to say the vows
Exchange the rings
Live a life together as one

 A glimpse of the ghostly past
Staring down the aisle
She turns in disbelief
Tears well up inside her

“Will you take this woman”
She hears being said
As heart pounds so fast
She struggles to breathe

“No” she shouts
Looking adoringly at her ex lover
Her heart skips a beat
She runs towards him

Their arms and mouths entwine
No words are said
She takes him by the hand
Looks back, and says “I’m sorry”

They run out into the street
Aghast onlookers surround them
The angels are looking after me she says
Take me home now, take me home.
