What I really miss is your smell,

I can watch you,

hear you,

but what I really want now,

is to smell your hair,

what would it be like?

To cup your long hair in my hands,

get it close to my face ,

close my eyes and inhale you deep ?

What would you smell of now?

If it is early in the morning

Far before the sunrise, I will smell of

Handmade goat milk and cocoa butter soap

I smell of morning coffee or spicy chi tea

And a starched apron

By noon I smell of fresh baked bread

Spicy sweetness of cinnamon and clove

Savory smells of home made soup and onions

Fresh vegetables and herbs

Traces of vanilla and dark chocolate will linger

Swirled with goat milk soap

Do you like it?

Mid afternoon is the time of

Lemon dish soap

Garden earth

Strawberries picked

And lavender

Still, lingering about me

Vanilla, soap and now bleach

Fresh peaches, apples or bananas

Nutmeg, garlic and pickles

When night comes,

Clean cotton night gown

Blackberry wine or chamomile tea with honey

Ready for you

My untamed hair smells how twilight looks

My skin the scent of night

When I opened my eyes

You no longer around me

But I still smell your sweet aroma

The lovely scent of a real woman

Aroma therapy memory

A recount of one woman’s day

Not of sound

Sight,

Neither touch nor taste

Missing only..

The scent of you

Author's Note

My Fair Lady
The scent of a woman is affected by everything about her. Her environment, her emotions, her mood, her life. It is affected by the time of day.. and can change in a moment... This was the most challanging piece I have ever had the pleasure to co-write, and is such a personal accomplishment. Thank you Yos for inspiring me.

I agree with the poem. The odors and sweet smells are what we remember and need. I like the description and story in this poem. Simple things as bacon and eggs/coffee can take me back to good time missed in a life. A very strong poem with a excellent ending. Thank you.

Perfect marriage of art and words. I love the sensual weaving of aromas - a nostril flaring write, me thinks! Breathtakingly fabulous!!

I think what makes this so wonderful to me is the fact one of my friends and I recently had a discussion about scents. We discussed how biologically it appears we breathe people in when were first getting acquainted; sub-consciously we are smelling them out......
You pretty much captivated the conversation in the most beautiful way. I'm so glad Yos recommended this to me :)

This is a perfect poem. The two of you collaborate really well with Yos's romanticism and My Fair Lady's practicality.

Hmm.. One of the best scents I've ever smelled was from my childhood. 'Twas the smell of my mom's hair. Though I couldn't totally relate it to this poem (Because it was something more than this poem), I enjoyed this thoroughly.

And it's intriguing how one misses 'the smell', when the other is away. This is certainly a different aspect on missing the loved one. A nice poem. I'll add it to my favorites :) Keep writing.

how sensuously sublime yet so ethereal and intense a piece, smelling of the masculine musk, touch and taste of the man's love and desire for his woman, as well as the fragrance and aroma of the woman of dreams--the metaphors of cinnamon and cloves, chamomile tea and honey, vanilla, strawberry and fresh peaches evoke the freshness and vigor of the refreshing, sweet spring of love! How splendid a collaborative work! Wish me too were a part of it, truly!
