You may ask me if everything is ok

I may say I am fine

I’m probably not fine

Fine usually doesn’t mean fine

It means let me be

I am woman

 

You may see tears in my eyes

During a sappy movie

Or at a wedding

Or for no apparent reason at all

Don’t ask me why I am crying

It may be a good tear gone too far

It may be because I don’t feel good today

Maybe it is because I am stressed out

I am woman

 

You may see me rage

When someone or something hurts my child

Or my love

Or my sister

Or because someone parked too close and I am now late

I don’t need you to fix it

Let me rage

I am woman

 

You may notice

I am more quiet than usual

You will probably wonder if it is you

Believe me, if it were.. I would tell you

I just have a lot on my mind

The mysteries of my soul

Will be revealed in my time.. Not yours

I am woman

 

You may think

That just because you want sex

I do too…

It probably hadn’t even crossed my mind

You may need to help me relax a little

Ease my mind, then I can love you

Take the time, reap the reward

I love nothing more than to feel like a goddess

appreciated and beautiful

But I need more time than you do

If I cry afterward, be happy..

That means you satisfied my every need

If you turn away from me and I cry

those tears are tears of pain

because now I feel used

I am woman

 

You may see things in me

That I cannot see in myself

My self confidence shaken and torn

Remind me often why you love me

How I turn you

Remember to appreciate me

Help me to appreciate myself

I am woman

 

You may think

That because I am physically strong

And can outwork many men

That I don’t need you to whisper in my ear

Or play in my hair

That I don't like to dance

and be swept off my feet now and then

I may not need it, but I crave it

I am woman

 

I don't need you to cover me

with sloppy kisses

or buy me needless things

or tell me empty words

you aren't willing to back

Show me love and appreciation

by your deeds, remember me

Remember my roles as a mother, sister

neighbor,daughter, friend... give me space to be that.

Don't follow me around like a sick dog either

I have stuff to do

help me

or get out of the way

I am woman

 

You may think that everything is ok

Just because I don't appear to be angry

Look deeper, try harder

Just because you are comfortable

I still want you

To work for me

Even if I am the only woman walking

And you are the only man

Win my heart… again
