One Sultry NightA Chapter by My Fair LadyAh.... young love
Angry young man Invisible girl Holding on to each other Fighting off the whole world
He doesn’t care She’s just “over it” Everything they’ve planned Has come down to this one night He promises not to leave her She has to trust he is right
She’s everything he hoped for He’s everything her mother hates Leather and liner Black bracelets and paint He brushes back her bottle black hair Revealing her beautiful face
Two rebel lovers One sultry night The parents say it is wrong But it feels so right
Spirited children grown up too fast Hungry for something they can’t explain Knowing nothing in this life will last Just live in the moment Let the tears fall where they may Or stand up with fists drawn And fight their way
Mama cries “girl where have you been?” And “why are you wearing black?” His dad says “son, your late again” He just goes up the stairs, and doesn’t look back. Don’t answer their questions But don’t tell them lies
Don’t say anything …
They won’t understand.
He grabs the cash he’s been stashing One sack of clothes and his guitar Jumps out the window And heads back to get her
She’s already waiting for him Outside the gate Jumps onto the back of his bike They ride away
Now her mama is crying His dad is just mad Neither of them saw it coming. Her note says: “He’s not so bad”
She’s everything he hoped for He’s everything her mother hates Leather and liner Black bracelets and paint He brushes back her bottle black hair Revealing her beautiful face
