The Tent of Madam Zelda

The Tent of Madam Zelda

A Chapter by My Fair Lady
"

"Divination Calling..."

"

Summer night

Carnival Lights

Music calling my name

Caramel Apple

Cotton Candy

Carnies yelling “play this game”

Sticky Sweetness

Children laughing

Greasy ride attendant stares

House of Mirrors

Blow up slide

Lovers walking in pairs

Hear my name

In the Wind

Shake it off as if not to hear

Nagging, pulling

Divination calls an

Invitation to the tent of Madam Zelda- Seer

Walk by twice

Suspicious wondering mind

Decide to take a quick peek

Lift the tent flap

Look inside

No one there to speak

Curiosity spiked

Step inside

No one to see me

Pick up the ball

Looks like plain glass

A hoax this seer must be

Incensed air

Fills my head

Turn as if to go

Heavy accent

Hear my name

Skeptical turn so slow

Please sit down

My name again

Like a puppet I obey

Take my seat

Purple and Plush

Quickly Look Away

Smoke and Mirrors

It’s all a joke

I am thinking in my head

It’s just for fun

A carnival ride

Then This is what she said:

“Give to me your hands

I did

“You working much too hard”

Anyone could see that fact

By the calluses and burns

“Your soul is weary”

“You have no money”

“You need a new car”

“You love your children”

“You do not believe in me”

I pulled my hands away

she already said too much

Attempted to mentally block her

“You don’t believe

In Madam Zelda

You think I am a fool”

“Ask me any question

You like

I will tell the truth”

Tarot hands

Lay down the cards

As she begin to read.

What a farce

I think to myself

I really need to leave

Do I believe?

Couldn’t speak

Decide to play her game

Painted hands

With Golden Rings

I finally ask

“How did you know my name?

Accent change

All a game

She says with a grin.

"You haven’t changed

From your work uniform silly girl

And your name is on your pin."

that was an entertaining read and nice ending :)...made me think of how we are afraid to hear the truth that we know for ourselves but don't want to acknowledge it and when someone else points it out we fear it

Love this poem. My grandmother taught me all this stuff, and the number of times people have forgotten about thier nametags in unreal. Much enjoyed!

you certainly painted the atmosphere beautifully!!~ thoroughly tactile poetic that saturates the perceptive feelers of all of us who've walked those magikally delicious and insane grounds~ and your last stanza!~ PRICELESS!!! Much enjoyed!!~

An enjoyable read with a great ending. Sometimes the answers are right in front of us, but we are unable to see them. Great work, keep it up!
