Love lies within the soul

Not to be mistaken for

Something that works from the

Outside in.

 

I am now free of the shameful leprous shroud

That I once hid behind to cover

The scars and pieces of myself

That had rotted away

In the effort to make you love me.

 

I found myself

Beautiful and whole

Within seconds of saying goodbye.
