BLACK

BLACK

A Poem by Jane Smith

Shadows engulf me!

Make me your own

Another mirage etched in darkness

Invisible, broken, alone

Don’t let the rays of sunlight

Grasp my feeble heart

Smearing the soul with hope

Veiling the truth from the start

Let your ebony tendrils

Slice my supple skin

Let the blood drip

 Down the devils chin

Craving your fiery touch

Burning up in your lust

Blistering from your breathe

Awaiting  the chilled kiss of death

No desire for light

Creating illusions of joy

Painting pictures with family and friends

Of forever love, with some beautiful boy

Colors will fade with age

People leave you behind

Radiant glow showed you lies

The truth will leave you blind

So save me Shadow!

Swallow me up in your dark abyss

Shield me from the fantasies attack

Because once the lights are out

Everything goes

Black.
