Wars

Wars

A Poem by Firemay
"

the government sends in soldiers who don't know any better

"

They stay inside their little homes

They stay inside where it is nice and warm

The stay inside so they don’t have to

Face the truth behind the doors

While they wait for it to slowly pass

They watch and laugh at the comedy

They wait for it to just go away

They think we don’t know, probably

Innocent people are dying outside

Banging on these steel locked doors

Asking to be brought in

Into the safe mind zones

But they don’t open the doors

For real life lies out there

They stay inside the unknown

Afraid of common sense

They don't want any wars

So they talk about world peace

They don't want any wars

They live as if they don’t exist

It’s not our problem, they say

They blame the other side

They say that they are innocent

However to the wars they guide

And then they go and sacrifice

Their brother, neighbor, friend

What they don’t understand is that

In the end, they are to blame

Thank you so much!
Complacency never resolved conflict - and - you have encapsulated the essence of how turning a blind eye to reality can never be acceptable! I really found you words both moving and compassionate - well done ...bless you ... :-)

thank you so much
Words I have far less eloquently paraphrased a thousand times. Deeply enjoyed.

Loved this in the most bittersweet of ways. I relate to a lot of these words, having a lot of these conversations recently. War is disgusting, but I'm undecided on whether it's human nature or merely human-made. You wrote in a strong tone of voice here, and I dig it in spades.

Love it.

*Welcome to "Pure Rhymes" Thanks for joining, great to have you...!*

When banging on steel... All that is left is the blame one can take... This took me from my safe mind-zone... Made me think... Well penned...

A cynic once said that war makes room for more babies to be born.. that the only way to heal the pain of war and its slaughter is to re.create. For me, reading that in my late teens made me realise that even the physical expression of love cannot win anything.. it's more a coat worn until it falls into rags.

Your poem is more than inspiring because it shows how careess people are about other's survival. the mighty give lives as fodder, give orders from behind locked doors. And don't care a damn.

Thank you for seeing with such clarity.. think on and act - if you can. using your very courageous pen.
