Child of Andromeda

Child of Andromeda

A Poem by Orphic Dreamer

"Andromeda/An intimate intersection between fate and dream/the domain of mysticism/Whirled its globular clusters around trivial hopes of forgotten souls"

A deep chasm of undying melancholia blurred my sunken eyes,

as the murky night, devoid of light, gradually devoured all hope from sight.

The pale walls of this dampened room subdued laments of my bygone sorrows,

my head lay on the delicate pillow

while cold blankets tucked under the shabby bed brought discomfort to my shivering torso.

I silently prayed for a serene slumber

until a ray of light emerged from the dark sky and glistened upon my dreary visage,

It was a spellbinding star…

more and more appeared each time I tried to grasp their grandeur.

Suddenly, I heard a faint sound from the abandoned balcony,

“Twinkle twinkle Little star…”

Amongst all pragmatic conclusions,

my idealistic sense of reality contemplated it as a pathway to ineffable independence.

I quizzingly walked up as rapid heartbeats controlled my trembling legs,

While haywire curiosity seized upon my bitter veins

“How I wonder what you are…”

The statuesque voice made this familiar rhyme unprecedented,

“Up above the world so high…”

With perpetual tears clouding my vision I stepped onto the open terrace,

“Like a diamond in the sky…”

Upon the thin wooden rail of my rooftop stood an empyrean damsel with ivory wings as a magenta ring encircled her slim waist.

Globular clusters grasped her pale limbs and my weakening faith.

“Twinkle twinkle Little star…”

As she finished singing the last word, a marvelous star appeared from her palms and swiftly drifted towards the stygian infinite.

Her sublime orbs met my woefully opaline ones,

She ambled towards me and bent down to gaze at my puffy eyes

her arms reached towards my delicate skin, to catch one falling droplet.

She rubbed her soft hands to meticulously create another star from my ever-flowing tears.

It was a sight for the deities to witness, yet I stood there, stunned.

She gently gestured for me to fly higher with her…

Without a second thought, I clasped onto her.

Those paradisiacal wings entrancingly fluttered open,

as we both flew toward the endless pool of dark.

“Who are you?”, I asked in a quivering voice.

“Child of the Andromeda”

Countless questions ran through my mind

Yet, they were all silenced by this one answer.

We slowly moved closer to eternal heaven,

I closed my eyes to let the melodic air compose unfelt emotions in my discordant heart.

As the actions of a stranger solaced my deepest wounds than a forgotten home.

[The final note of a young girl, written when the clock tolled midnight,

Cause of death: fall from a balcony]

I enjoyed the cosmic symbolism in the metaphor of personal existence. Often God's face seems so far away but the illusion of distance is only a trick of the fickle heart. Heaven is as much within us as it is "out there". That's my belief, at least. A very nicely crafted write. I enjoyed the read. F.

Thank you so much for taking your time to read!
This reminds me of the writing style of a Ray Bradbury short (one of my favourite authors) and there can be no higher compliment than that.
Great read.

Thank you so much for taking your time to read!
incredible writing….with mystic tones throughout this ethereal piece…
vivid images of the celestial show through every line… this is somewhere between dream and musings…..using the nursery rhyme “ Twinkle Twinkle Little Star woven throughout this piece…as it is the solace for this child of Andromedia, a comfort space with a balcony to watch the famous star twinkle and give comfort ……the ending could be a surprise!
