THE COLOR OF LOVEA Poem by Jane Doe Smith Rogers
A rainbow of color ignites above Creator’s gift of eternal love Sanctuary from water’s deluge Protective arch provides refuge Spectrum of color artfully bent Through this a message was sent: To Noah and his children, the Creator said This covenant is capped in passionate red Color woven artfully in soft tremulous light That reveals the morning after an arduous night Beneath garnet and ruby to the ends of the earth A safe harbor is provided in which to give birth A trinity of color in this gift from godhead Fiery, dynamic, also thoughtful, controlled Carnelian, fire opal, creative energy behold Noah’s children were given the earth to explore Punishing flood waters flowing no more Sunshine peeked through the clouds up above So Noah sought land and sent forth a white dove A yellow diamond shines through citrine rays Shouting jubilant cheer until the end of days When a bejeweled stable datum came into sight Confusion was removed by this vision of light Wondrous light of emerald and jade Attests that contract’s price has been paid As green merges yellow with blue It sits at the center of a heart ever true Harmony, hope, and peace are abundant Provided forever and never redundant Lapis lazuli and sapphire shimmer blue A splash sweeps the sky and heaven breaks through The color of love bonds Creator with man Through trial, tribulation, was paid great corban An assurance declared at once and for all Attesting deluge will not again fall Indigo amplifies the energy of promise Divine It emerges from heaven along with sunshine Azurite, iolite in blue-violet skies Radiance unfolds, amazing our eyes Filled to the brim with translucent wine Toasting troth pledged between man and Divine Violet proclaims spiritual mastery Amethyst foments the grand finale Wrath abated, obligation paid Consideration made by prismatic arcade A promise to man burst forth into light The color of love finally made it all right §§§ __________________________________________ Copyright © 2009 by Jane Doe Smith © 2009 Jane Doe Smith Rogers |
