FairytaleA Poem by Janay brooklynne
Late at night while the worlds asleep she knocks calmly at my door. I open up and there she is, eyes red and somewhat sore. I take her hand, lead her in, and close the door behind. I set her softly on the couch, and pour two cups of wine. She looks at me with saddened eyes, he left she says to me. He promised me he'd stay forever, but last night he chose to leave. I take a drink, take a breath, and fight to find some words. I couldn't fathom why anyone would leave such a extraordinary girl. Only a fool would abandon the love of this girl in front of me. If I was hers I'd give her the world. I would never leave. Finally I take her hand, and softly say to her, you deserve eternal love, you deserve the world. Slowly she began to smile, and place her head on me. For once in my life I felt I had a chance to truly be happy. That's until there was a loud obnoxious knock at my front door. And just like that my fairytale was gone. My fairytale was no more
