A Poem by JanMarie
"

love poem

"

Sweet imagination, carry me away
As I try to leave behind the sadness of today.
Loneliness has stabbed me through the center of my heart,
Demanding I remember I’m the reason we’re apart.

     Bring him back, just for tonight.
     Make this pillow hold me tight.
     Give it soft black hair, brown eyes;
     Give it lips I’d recognize.

Oh, sweet imagination, only for a while,
I need to touch my love again; I need to see his smile.
I need to feel again that he is lying next to me.
Release me from this heartache with one night of fantasy.

such longing that each of us has felt as one time or another. did i lose something or is the last line just a kilter outta rhythm ? i like the specifics in the center,...give it lips i'd recognize....now that's pretty personal. nicely done.
