Double-Sided

Double-Sided

A Poem by Jamie Starlight

Beware of flattery, It’s bait

You’ll think it’s fate

Beware of romance, it’s fake

You’ll wish you left for your sake

Idealization is internecine

A flame to kerosene

Crinkled up papers alight

You should never write

I say beware, because I am bait

I am the preacher of fate

I say beware, because I am fake

It’s really just for my own sake

Take the blood, straight from my vein

Under kerosene and eyestrain

Write all about my shortcomings

Don’t come up with endings

Can't tell if this one reflects bitterness or warning. It sounds as though someone got burned and is venting. Hopefully the wound will heal.

Phenomenal flow to your writing and the imagery of the words are vivid and full of energy. I loved it!
