Unexpected Muse

Unexpected Muse

A Poem by Jamie Starlight

I thought I knew who I was

I never expected this

Here I am looking at you

My heart is disoriented

Sea blue eyes

Messy dark cocoa hair

Fragile limbs

Scars…

Since when has a girl captivated me

I thought it was just my mind playing tricks

No, this is new

This is real, however abstract it may be

I can’t phrase this attraction

It’s not sexual

It’s a longing to hold you, protect you

To keep you safe

I still don’t understand

Too new to comprehend

It’s visceral with depth

Is it love or not???
