Why

Why

A Poem by Jamie Starlight
"

I was inspired to write this after finding the song "Save Me" by Shinedown, The song reminded me of my deceased sister-in-law so I wrote this.

"
I sit alone wondering what went wrong?
I drift further into my darkness not caring to return.
Just me, the immense darkness, and the pills.
I know they care but I feel separated from them,
excluded from their kind.
I swallow the pills and twirl into
sweet everlasting sleep.

My altar is lined with roses and silk.
I lay there unmoving and watch as they all cry.
The little girl in the back row keeps mumbling,
"She's still here, she'll wake up and
everything will seem like a cruel joke."
But I never fulfilled her wishes.
To this day the young girl asks, "Why?"
but that's the hardest question to answer.

This brought a tear to my eye.

I think you meant, "everything will seem… "
I also think that longest line in the second stanza might flow better for being broken into two lines.
