Sub-conscious us (Part 1)

Sub-conscious us (Part 1)

A Poem by James George
"

Ever wanted to and didn't at the same time? Ever cheered and hated your hypocrisy not booing at the same time? Deep down within us lies a truth we must face. This is what prompted me write this.

"
And death shall be chosen rather than life by all the residue of them that remain of this evil family, which remain in all the places whither I have driven them, saith the LORD of hosts.
- Jeremiah 8:3
I have seen a great abnormality under the sun.
Among all nations and people a norm.
Different perspectives from different viewpoints.
This may just be why battles are fought

Is this the reality of our subconscious?
That rather than admire, we envy
Rather than help, we mock
Rather than sympathize, we scorn
Rather than faithfully follow, we usurp

Rather than embrace, we oppose
Rather than know, we fight
Rather than reconcile, we blame
Rather than serve, we want to be known.

What we should be ashamed of, we pride in
What we should be afraid of, we find pleasure in.
Rather than treasure and sustain what we've been given,
We kill them and then immortalize what we've lost.

Is this the reality of our subconscious
Or are we just so literally bound thus?
I am James George
And you've just seen into my thoughts.
