Fatherhood

FATHERHOOD

Fear and joy,

Are born this day.

For my girl or boy,

Am I strong enough,

Do I have the stuff,

That makes me worthy?

I cannot bluff,

But must be courtly,

And not otherworldly.

Tears are not enough, 

And would show poorly,

If I am or am not tough.

And for those who might be guessing,

Fatherhood is a blessing.

This was short but sweet, and from your heart about how you feel and how others may feel when becoming a father. This poem says a fair bit with not many words.

Do write more of your experiences as a father, I don't think there is an active genre that taps into the thoughts of a father who is rearing his kids.

Great job on the rhyming and it definitely flows well. I only wish it were longer to know more about what it would be like to be a father. Of course, I will never truly know, since I only have potential to be a mother as a woman. Great work!
