The Choice, Act or React, Live or Exist

The Choice, Act or React, Live or Exist

A Story by Jamie R. Robillard Sr.
"

An Essay, not a story.

"

If we subscribe to the belief that our reality is our perception of our environment, which I do, would it be equally true that we are victims of our environment, and punished by our misperceptions?

I suppose this would depend on your point of view. I view our environment as changeable, and I choose to perceive myself as a survivor vs. a victim. I value knowledge and love life. I don't view my tribulations suffered of miss perceptions as punishment, I view them as dues paid for valuable information on which I can base a more enjoyable and worthwhile life.

I would rather take action and fail, than to merely react to what falls on my path of life. After all there is equal credibility in the belief that I will not always fail, my perception is not always flawed and I can triumph in my happy memories vs dwell on my more regrettable ones.

Thus I can forge my destiny, or I can allow my environment to mold me.

I think we have to be a product of our environment, or we wouldn't be who we are. How can there be a present or a future without a past? I agree with you, the actions we take define who are, for they make up our thoughts and our persona. It is definitely best to act, and to regret, than to regret ever acting.
