The Blind

The Blind

A Poem by Jamie R. Robillard Sr.
"

Written in 2004 for a Christmas card for a friend.

"

As I wander through these woods

It is now so clear to me

I did not see the forest

for all the trees

I have a precious gift

but a moment of your time

Is it true that I squander

What might possibly be mine

The blind man does beseech  me

of these colors that may be

I share with him his loss

because though I have looked

I have never seen

As I wander through this life

It is now so clear to me

I can not see this moment

for the day that lies before me

This poem brought me to tears...I do not know how to explain but it is very personal to me. Sometimes I feel like I spend so much time looking for something that I fail to see what is around me and I miss so much, and you can just never get those moments back.

I have this aching need to feel, understand, and create and sometime it is all consuming. So consuming in fact that it becomes that much harder for me to portray and it is that feeling the rips me apart.

Have you ever read something and felt that you were better because of that fact that you read it? Well that is what this poem has done for me. It has helped to shed a little bit of light and perspective on the way I feel just to know that I am not the only one that feels it.

My greatest fear is to look without seeing and to die with out living. I want you to know that this poem means a lot to me.
