If only I could shuffle my thoughts as fast as a
blackjack dealer,
God knows I'm losing my mind as fast as the
poor dummies losing their money huddled around
those unforgiving tables,
The house always wins but I'm not even playing
I'm just trying to figure out what my next big move
in life is going to be and what I'm willing to lose,
So I'd better keep shuffling for now but soon I'm
going to have to cut the deck and gamble a little
bit,
I sure pray that this time my gamble is
worth the payoff, cause gambling on life and love
can really hurt in this crazy casino called life...
Agree with your thoughts.. but there again, not speaking of actual gambling but life: perhaps we have to take chances in order to discover our strengths and weaknesses. OK, there's always the chance of falling by the wayside, and, so cruel, how painful is that. But, to try climbing a mountain but only eaching the top of a hill, is better than just looking at it, surely?
Forgive me, but your finely tuned poem, the metaphorical aspect of it, immediately set me thinking and i imagine a deep thinker is satisfied by that.

Just sometimes I get it right. Fine, fine writing.
James this is awesome.. you have captured that essence of taking a leap of faith in such a great metaphor!
It is all a gamble my friend so very true...we never know what hand we will be dealt but when it comes to love,,, yes it is worth the risk because without taking it you may miss out on greatness!!
Seriously , just a brilliant write James...love it!! :))

lovely metaphor, James... life is often like a casino and we place bets every day on everything we do: that the tooth paste we use will whiten our smile, the clothes we select will speak to who we are, that the food we consume will nourish us, that the choices we make in relationships will lead to better things, that the job we have... and so on... however, you make another valid point: if we gamble on life and love, there is a chance it may not pay off and in that case we have to prepared to cut our loses... Fantastic write, my friend!

ha! I like this - you had me right there in the dingy old casino at ten am in the morning on Fremont St, Las Vegas ... I am hungry but refuse to get up and introduce myself to today's buffet - for goodnees know what my thoughts will deal up that side of the crispy bacon ...
ahhh thoughts indeed - it is a true belssing to be able to calm the mind and sooth the soul and tell the blackjack dealer 'im out' ... very nice work JT - this is a fave of yours for sure XX

Sometimes you gotta just jump in and take that risk, even if that means the end result isn't so good.
At least by doing so you can you say you tried and you fearlessly took that risk.
Awesome write James. :]

Just for gaining the courage to take a leap, and I'm not just talking about any foolish one, speaks plenty on its own brother. Even the bad has its good and the house could only take what you give it.
Great write.
