If only I could shuffle my thoughts as fast as a
blackjack dealer,
God knows I'm losing my mind as fast as the
poor dummies losing their money huddled around
those unforgiving tables,
The house always wins but I'm not even playing
I'm just trying to figure out what my next big move
in life is going to be and what I'm willing to lose,
So I'd better keep shuffling for now but soon I'm
going to have to cut the deck and gamble a little
bit,
I sure pray that this time my gamble is
worth the payoff, cause gambling on life and love
can really hurt in this crazy casino called life...
Agree with your thoughts.. but there again, not speaking of actual gambling but life: perhaps we have to take chances in order to discover our strengths and weaknesses. OK, there's always the chance of falling by the wayside, and, so cruel, how painful is that. But, to try climbing a mountain but only eaching the top of a hill, is better than just looking at it, surely?
Forgive me, but your finely tuned poem, the metaphorical aspect of it, immediately set me thinking and i imagine a deep thinker is satisfied by that.

Just sometimes I get it right. Fine, fine writing.
This is wonderful. Perfectly satisfying metaphors for life and change and risk. Completely relatable and also quite comforting, that this feeling exists for other people as well! It really is like gambling and it's all or nothing. I'm saving this in my library!
Hello James, awesome configurations, life is always a gamble.
At the end the house always win, for we all shall part this world
It's what we do at that table that will signify our life here on Earth.
Nice touch, thanks for sharing! :-)
One can always hold their cards close to their chest and miss opportunities in this life...or because of hurt once, not ever take a chance. Or, you can watch God move mountains for you because you trust Him to lead you to the right person. Jesus loves you. Valentine
Love it. "Losing my mind as fast as the poor dummies losing their money" - can relate to that. Its a comfort to know whatever the gamble Gods there for the win or the loss

~Great comparisons here Jamestown. You speak here in a way we can all relate to. We never know what kind of hand life and love are holding, do we. No wonder so many win, lose or draw.~
Hi James and a BIG wow!!! This is so gooooood!! You are reaching so much further now, showing up hat style that you've had tucked up your sleeve far too long!!! Great write!!! All on the improve at my place!! Back increasingly more each day, will talk when we are both on site!!! alf
wow! that was a really good writing! I love the way you portrayed life as gambling because that is what life mostly is about. you write almost like a friend of mine writes, my friend wrote "Life is like being dealt a bad hand in an endless poker game." your writing reminded me of my friends which just makes me love the poem even more. keep it up!!!
