Let it ride...

Let it ride...

A Poem by Jamestown
"

Sometimes we must let things go...

"
Let it ride...

So many trials and tribulations in this fast paced life
we live,

So many grudges held against others for mistakes made
today and yesteryear,

So much love lost for the things that happen big or small,

Time is being wasted and love is drowning in the vast sea
of hate,

I say " let it ride "

If we could use that energy to forgive and move on
we wouldn't feel the suffocation of drowning,

I try to remind myself that most of that suffocating
feeling comes from within,

I have noticed when I let it ride, or in other words forgive
and move forward that drowning feeling doesn't linger,

I have found this easier said then done but I have also
found that when I do so, things seem easier to deal with
when I can breathe,

The enormous sea is filled with hate and the only way to
keep from adding to it is to do our part to not fall into it's
depth,

So like a surfer catching a wave and enjoying a piece of freedom
we should follow this example and find our piece of freedom
on the wave of forgiveness and " let it ride "

So true! We can only find appeasement when we flow with the river and not resist the current or go against it.

Thanks again and b-blessed!
This is great! In particular the last two stanzas, using the sea to personify really creates affect. It makes me feel calm and peaceful. Great job!

Well done James. Forgetting and forgiving isn't easy yet if we practice then we are at ease within ourselves rather than facing the hustle and bustle all the time and just regretting things. Thanks for sharing. God bless dear.

Your welcome :) and thanks for your blessing dear.
I agree with you completely. Holding on to hate or bad feelings will eat away at your soul. There is a point where you must forgive and move on. (forgetting can be another story). Well written James. You are a wise man!

Personally, I fear no God. That said, I do like this poem. I think you could be a perfect atheist (which I'm not) and still have this poem be perfectly relevant. I could live by the motto "Let it ride"; in fact, I strive to do so. The last verse hit a bit of a nerve because of Elio Canestri, but that's just how life rolls, with or without divine intervention. God I'm not sure about, but your poem is good!

Love it! The message is so pure and it speaks to us humans and life on so many levels. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing, it can cleanse us of pent up stress and grudges. It speaks to us all when you say "Let it ride..." I really like this, thanks for sharing this one!

I liked the clear, simple message of the poem and the imagery of the seas and surfer helps the reader imagine it.

A beautiful reminder that "turning the other cheek" is often the first step in the healing process after we feel we have been wronged. Thank you for speaking from the heart and spreading the Word, Jamestown.
