Lemons 2 Lemonade...

Life's Lemonade...

When life serves us lemons
we are told to make lemonade,

At least that's how the old uplifting
saying goes,

In my life I have made my fair share
of lemonade, some batches have turned
out very sweet others not so much and a
few times the batch was made to perfection,

Today I was served those sour lemons yet
again and I know what I need to do but like
the sour lemons of the past it's always easier
said then done making that perfect batch,

I begin to wonder why these pesky lemons
keep finding there way into my life, to be perfectly
honest I don't even like lemons, but then I remind
myself why not, I have to keep telling myself it's
because these sour lemons need some sweetness
in their life and who better to add some sweetness to
their sour then me,

With that quick reminder I know what I have to do,
one batch of lemonade is on the way and this time
it will be pink cause I figure these lemons could use
some color in their yellow lives,

Lord I don't understand why I must keep being served
these sour lemons but I pray your will be done, and I
hope you understand when I say " I don't even like lemons
and am getting really tired of making lemonade "

This is an awesome inspiring write James. I remember my dad saying before that God would only deal us the hand he knows we are strong enough to get through... He deals you these pesky lemons because He understands how strong your faith is and knows that you will make the most of the opportunity. Great write I enjoyed this one very much. :)

This a work about a great metaphor and I do love a good lemonade, and today there are many varieties.
This makes it a spice in life to me--raspberry, blackberry, strawberry and so on....
lots of choices and I think life is about those choices and you speak of it in your poem well.
We all get interrupts and get a curve ball thrown at us--but it is how we react that counts.
Your reactions must be on the positive side.

These lemons are our trials, James, as you so perfectly describe them in your wonderful metaphor. Although, it's not about the lemons themselves, it's about what you do with them and you keep doing it, my friend... your faith is strong and unlike Leonard Cohen, you don't need proof...your lemonade is already perfectly coloured!!!
