Butterflies

Butterflies

A Poem by Jamestown
"

Triumphant life...

"
Butterflies...

Oh beautiful butterfly please don't fly away,
can't you stay, I want a few kisses that will
be turned into wishes,

I want to fly with you,
l want to see what you see
I want to fly higher then the trees
Oh beautiful butterfly won't you come back please,

At birth a caterpillar crawling on ground
taking forever to get around,
just moving a hundred feet probably seemed
like town to town,

Now grown up adults they fly with ease,
using freedom under their wings a nice
calm breeze,

Before getting those freedom wings,
they had to go through hell and back
you better believe,

And before we get ours
so will we...

The Butterfly is an interesting animal. It is delicate. Somehow I think we've all got to learn to be a delicate and treat each other with kindness so we don't break. That, I think is a great way to obtain the peace we seek in the world. The human race will really take off once it learns to be light and delicate.

Nicely done. And so true. We all must learn before we can take off and 'fly'.

I like the imagery here James. Butterflies are the perfect symbol for the message of this piece. They have to struggle, but at the end they are indeed triumphant. What en encouragement your words are!!

A real philosophical poem, but in a style uncomplicated. Very good.

Love this! I love the comparison between butterflies and humans. As a teacher, I have witnessed with my classes countless caterpillars that we have watched in the classroom spin their cocoon and then struggle out as a beautiful butterfly and fly. We then set them free. As your poem states, it is like us as well. Love, love love this. Wonderful poem!

So much learning and struggling and enduring before we become what God meant us to be...

Awww that is so wonderful! It is a nice analogy to the lifecycle of butterflies and us as mortal humans becoming angels in the after-life. It is very sweet!
