Digging for Love...

As I start to dig deep into my heart, l pass by several emotions that
are tucked in small dark spaces that my eyes can't see,

I know that they are there, but the hiding spots they have selected,
are deliberate and well thought out, I can feel them but only when they
allow me to,

I lock on to one and begin to pick and pry at it trying to jar it lose,
as I loosen it from its mold, I get a sharp pain in my heart as if I am
being stabbed and my eyes flood with tears, I step back and take a look
at it and realize, the emotion that is now free of it's crevice is
that of HATE,

Now that this beast is no longer hiding, other emotions want to also
surface and rear their ugly heads, like sadness, anger and several others,
which is bringing me to a state of complete exhaustion,

I can feel myself losing control of the situation and am terrified
that I may cause my heart to attack itself, I look around in desperation
praying I can find LOVE to come to the rescue, sure enough I see
love's beautiful light shinning through what looks like a tunnel of some sort,

I eventually make my way to it and when I do, HATE and the other negative
emotions burrow themselves back into there caves,
and a warm soothing feeling cascades throughout my body and my energy
returns immediately,

The feeling of complete freedom comes over me and my mind feels clear
as a sparkling crystal, I now have a total understanding of why, darkness is
represented by HATE and LOVE to light, they absolutely feel how they appear,
LOVE is warm and bright and HATE is dark and cold, and I also learned the difference,
in physical and mental clarity depending on what emotion is at the forefront of my thoughts,

So I beg you all, please stay positive, don't let negativity dictate your life
and never stop digging for LOVE...

Digging for love. Lovely poem, i especially liked the part where all the negative emotions flee away when love takes over, its very true. Also liked the last part which compares hate to darkness and love to light.
Keep up the good work.

A fair comparison between love and hate. But personally I feel that both the emotions are equally harmful. When love turns into obsession it takes the worst form... Liked the imagery and the breaking up of the poem in stanzas of different lengths..

God bless you Nazia:)
The personification of the emotions was the final nail in the coffin of my opinion that this piece is...fantastic! I love the imagery of this, it's so unique and out of the box. Very well thought-through. In some cases, it could've gone awry, and readers would lose track of the author's intended message, but you were able to thoroughly flesh the concept out and stick to your theme. I especially love how you didn't explicitly state what drove the persona into going in the depths of his own heart, or why they were consumed with curiosity--and perhaps instinct?--to try and pry their emotions from within their confines. It's amazing, because readers who feel the same way can connect and relate to this without having a reason drawn up for them.

Wonderful piece, kudos to you. Some small grammatical errors worth taking note of are: changing 'their' into 'there', 'it's' into 'its', and the addition/removal of certain punctuations. Other than that, this was a great read!

"I can feel myself losing control of the situation and am terrified
that I may cause my heart to attack itself" I like that part! Sometimes the heart attack its own self!!! Very interesting:)
