Can't always believe what you see...

Lying Eyes...

As we all know, we can't always believe what our eyes
allow us to see, just think of the several times our eyes
have left us feeling deceived,

Ladies- how many times has your beautiful lying eyes,
locked in on what you thought was a dream come true,
prince charming standing right in front of you,

later to find out, this man is quite alarming and
left you feeling blue,

Gentleman- how many times has our deceptive eyes,
honed in on what we thought was our future wife,

to find out later, we can't stand this woman
anymore then one night,

Our lying eyes, love to play tricks on our hearts
and minds, so much that there's been times when,
I wish I could remove them and leave them behind,

But obviously, we can't remove our eyes,
we need our valuable eyes to ease our lives,
I just wish they weren't so good, at telling lies...

It's interesting how you say our laying eyes instead of other people lying to us. But it is true. There are times when people represent themselves as they are, but we tend to lie to ourselves, creating a different presentation of the person or blindfolding ourselves with pink glasses. It's good to see life in pink, but you have to be realistic as well. And listen to your intuition, the cues of it that never lie or fail you.

The title gripped me - one of my favorite songs to play and sing along to on guitar and such a sad story to it.
The truth in this poem is undeniable JT, the eyes can be tricked so easily - just look at the furore on the Internet over the colours of a certain dress - that proves that even when we don't have any affliction such as colour-blindness, we still don't all see the same thing when presented with it.

The last line here is so cleverly employed - it sums the poem up and links to the title too
a fine write indeed JT :)

I have always believed that eyes are a mirror reflecting our soul. but yes some eyes lie and deceive that's where you fall prey to cheats.
I especially liked the way you expressed frustration by writing:
