My Love, My Bride To Be

My Love, My Bride To Be

A Poem by James Whitefall
"

My first love that I'll never forget.

"

For awhile now I've looked for you, trying to get a glimpse

Hopefully you're doing well, I'm wondering who you're with

I'm sure you've long forgot me, I don't blame you, not a bit

Doesn't mean I'm not sad, I still wish because of it

Ink's flowing from this pen while I'm longing, wanting to know

Do you still think of me, or could we of ever had a go?

I remember when you said "I do", I was a fool to think it could be

You're mom had a leash on you, and your sister, I knew we'd see

The next morning they were there to get you; to collect my bride to be

The pain of forever wishing, this feeling, I'll never be free

The one last night we had together, I was too young to know what it meant

I would have made it last forever, instead of spending it where it was spent

When she told me to never call you again, my heart was split in two

For as long as I live, know this promise, I'll never love anyone like you

The truest love is nearly always the one we lose. I'm sure, like me, people will read this with their own love in mind.

A very well written piece that flows like the strings of the hearts harp - I raise my hat to you sir!
