Ice Trays

Ice Trays

A Poem by James Wells

Where do you go when you're not around
A savior that's bloodied and battered
It's not like we're breaking new ground
Strike up a match, a cigarette my darling
Tell the world that you don't care
When you know you're falling

How does it feel to know
The world's burning beneath your feet
Crashing cars in our streets
How does it feel to show
Curtains rise, the show goes on
The mime rolls out, the star's gone.

I've asked you a million times before
Did you close the freezer
When you walked out my door
Melt away from surreptitious thoughts
Manage close your mangled clots
Knowing you've lost

How does it feel to know
The world's burning beneath your feet
Crashing cars in our streets
How does it feel to show
Curtains rise, the show goes on
The mime rolls out, the star's gone.
How does it feel to fade away
A savior bloodied, battered beneath your feet
How does it feel to have no say
Close the door and melt within my sheets
How does it feel to know
That you are all alone

I'm just looking to keep people entertained. It's important to me that I do as much as I can to give hope to the hopeless. We need it the most. But I also do say some comedic things occasionally, b.. more..
