Shadow

Shadow

A Poem by James Wells

Allow me to remind you I'm dying slowly
No doubt that drugs will me leave lonely.
I'm staring at your picture, I'm reading the scripture
I'm falling in the dark stumbling toward the refrigerator.

And every blinking light that beams within this canyon
Reminds me of the night that I lost my love companion.
So I'll fade into obscurity and embrace anonymity
Breathing lifeless words into the shadows surrounding.

Break my back I don't mind my spine belongs to you.
Just make sure that the words you recall are true.
And I'll step on a crack just for a nostalgic effect.
Reminded of all the things you referred to as defects.

And every blinking light that beams within this canyon
Reminds me of the night that I lost my love companion.
So I'll fade into obscurity and embrace anonymity
Breathing lifeless words into the shadows surrounding.

Make a call to arms, I need you listless.
Restlessly unresting through the great abyss.
Don't balk or falter at the line my daughter
Just remember the lambs we led to slaughter.
So know your place in the most human race.
And vanish from this Earth without a trace.

And every blinking light that beams within this canyon
Reminds me of the night that I lost my love companion.
So I'll fade into obscurity and embrace anonymity
Breathing lifeless words into the shadows surrounding.

I'm just looking to keep people entertained. It's important to me that I do as much as I can to give hope to the hopeless. We need it the most. But I also do say some comedic things occasionally, b.. more..
