Replacing Telephone Wires with HeartstringsA Poem by James WellsI spent a long while wondering. If I knew a girl to wear my ring. Safe to say, all I have is you. I spent some time in the ever greens. Hoping you would come with me. Ever after never felt so true. I spent a bit remembering. The time I told you everything. Oh honey, my favorite color's blue. I can see your eyes, it's three in the morning, distant like the sunrise. I can hear the words you spoke to me, gifting me your best disguise. I can't finish thoughts with you, it's crippling, great and true. I know that you'd want all this too. I'd waste away a pretty day. On the couch, with you I'd lay. Safety rests somewhere in your arms. I know that I might say too much And other times, it's not enough. But girl, I'll keep you away from harm. I'd take a chance, so I could rest. You'd protest the time again But I would not see the cause for alarm. I can see what's in your heart, across from the country, distant like the moon. I can hear your pretty songs, while I write mine, you make me swoon. I can't begin to tell you, that's why I play these tunes. I hope that you'd like this one, too. Maybe you'd lie next to me. Your music laughter echoing around. I could tell you all the things. That make me who I want to be But the list is short, it's always been you. I hope that your list is short too. I hope that you'd stay with me, too.
