How Many Parts

How Many Parts

A Poem by James Towers

Just how every other story begins

I gave you my heart

Actually hoping you’d take it apart

To take and analyze bit by bit

Maybe only then you could see past my wit

See past my veiling smile

How my world, to me, seems so vile

Maybe you could see how overtime I changed

Realizing now how this expectations was almost deranged

Seeking to find myself in you

It was unfair, now I see it true

Even if you went into my head

Not scared of where it lead

Trying to see into a world of sorrow and despair

Asking you to help me understand, simply isn’t fair

I don’t know who I am

I’m not just fine

Subconsciously wanting this to be a better start

So maybe then you see just how bad

I’m gradually falling apart
