The Wind Never Blew

The Wind Never Blew

A Poem by James
"

Just some thoughts on a cold night when I couldn't sleep.

"
The air is cold tonight, surely, too cold to be out in it.
Only the extremely brave and foolish
venture into the night air.

On a night such as this when nothing warm can be found,
I lean back into the railings of my bed and dream
of the nights when I had you to keep me warm.

The memories send a shivering chill through the air,
cutting like a cold North wind blowing through a wet sweater.
I can feel it hanging on my shoulders,
the weight of it pulling me down while my eyes struggle
and my mind plays on a loop from years ago
when the temperature was warm and the wind never blew.

Beautifully capturing what once was against what is now, in cold and warmth. This has a somewhat eerie appropriateness this morning, as I read it, a blanket of snow has just whitewashed the world outside and has my brain frantically thinking of an excuse that will let me go back to my bed today and hibernate....At least until the thaw. :)
Nicely expressed James.

I love this. Everyone has some regret buried in there that feels or looks like this, coming out to haunt on some rare sleepless nights here & there. Your details make this push-and-pull mental struggle very clear & relatable.

Amazing poetry.

I liked and understood the above lines. We miss what is gone. Thank you James for sharing the excellent poetry.

I like it, whether it's real or fiction doesn't matter.
You've captured a feeling here. It borders on loneliness but also an appreciation for what once was and an acceptance that it is no more.

Thanks, a bunch. It is totally fiction. Just Crack thoughts on a cold windy night.
quite an interesting wordplay of thoughts. very nicely penned down. in the season of winter, & the month of January-coldness, the foresaken hearts're being longed to get pampered, so it's hard to get out in winds, & walk the emptiness of roads overnight. kinda interesting poetry. nicely choosen words. and well decorative "not-so" autobiography.
