Sidewalk Lights

Sidewalk Lights

A Poem by James

See the light on the sidewalk path
It shines to light the way.
If you look up and down the path
the lights are all the same.
Long straight lines, they curve a might --
a hundred glowing bowls.
Keeping me safe as I walk at night
so I won't fall into the holes --
or get lost in the darkness,
lost in nights unknown.
Guiding when nights are dark and starless --
guiding me safely home.

I admire a poet who thinks of a simple everyday detail & then spins it into a metaphoric message such as this one. We all have different "sidewalk lights" to guide us along our dark nights *smile*

really like this...the near rhyme works perfectly...

subconsciously, we know the path...there is a light in our heart we can follow...and the line is pretty straight.
