MY First RIDE

MY First RIDE

A Poem by James

Lying awake, looking up at the stars
my mind drifts back to my very first car.
Baby blue and white inside
she was sleek and smooth, man what a ride.
A 350 under the hood, she was really prime,
With a low front end, she could turn on a dime.
Cruising the parking lot always got me a smile.
On Saturday nights, I owned the quarter mile.
She had a four barrel carb and a dual exhaust,
when I stepped on the gas she really took off.
When I hit town you knew it was me
The sound of my engine brought crowds to see
The awesome little rod with a rumbling sound
and it's freak'n awesome driver, making his rounds.

this reminds me of high school days..those first cars, and riding around blocks in Joliet showing off the rides...and feeling so cool.....hoping the girls thought we were...

they were probably just smiling inside.

Poems can be amazing, and so can poets. A poet can write on any topic underneath the sun. First time I read about someone praising his car in rhymes.
Very nice to read. A freak'n awesome poet.
