"I Am Lost"
James,
The very title speaks to the clue that is wrapped up in the soul of humanity. Lostness is a recognizable state of being. Lostness is not a peaceful or a happy or a blessed place. Who wants to dwell there?
"Tell me, I beg you,
why do I
stare into darkness
and see,
and in light
I am blind?
The above words speak to the desire for light and the ability to see clearly. Why? Why do people care? It is a clue. A clue leading to something......someone. Christ, the light of the world, who came save those which are lost. For God so loved the World......John 3:16
I appreciated this writing for it shows how people are naturally curious and need answers.
Blessings,
Kathy

This reminds me of a spiritual struggle - trying to understand the light but feeling like you are forever bound to the darkness, or more bluntly trying to feel worthy of God but struggling knowing you are just a sinner (it's my struggle so my personal take on this) I often feel so lost, like I have so very much to learn :) I really enjoy your poetry and always seem to get something very personal from it - so thank you!

For me, it's about knowing the right path and rarely taking it. It's a feeling of total helplessness probably caused by stubbornness more than anything else.
Your comment is especially close because I wrote this sitting in church one Wedsnday night instead of listening to the pastor
I know this feeling intimately, altho I've never heard anyone describe it in these terms. I love the way you've dug down deep to identify all the feelings that go alone with feeling lost. I love the originality of your word choices. The 2nd stanza is simply brilliant in its questioning. Good job!

Human despair, the absense of outside meaning and the difficult journey of finding that in your self.
I like the way you describe the groundlessness.

this feels like something that should have music and The Moody Blues singing it...
like their song "Lost in a Lost world"
interesting as to whom the speaker is talking. Because it could be himself...his other side that won't come out of that darkness but could...maybe he wants to stay there...sometimes we end up in that place, that state of mind, and emotion.

The strange ramblings of a tormented mind, torn between what we should and what we want. In the middle nothing makes any sense and we want desperately for someone to guide us in the right direction.
