SirenA Poem by James William Dyeranticipating an accident while trying to escape an argument lolThat voice. It splinters the color around the iris of my eyes. The glasses by the sink resonate with fear that you might shatter them. There's already a bright red and viscous drop of blood in the pristine white of the sink. I'd hate to cut my palm again, on the shards of another translucent dream Because you decided to break the crescendo of tension and scream. I wish I were the slow-motion granule of broken glass that falls through the puckered dimple a speckle in the center of the spider web shatter your angry lips screamed through my windshield as I was backing out the driveway. You scream STOP signs into my eyes And gag me with yellow ribbons of CAUTION tape. © 2012 James William DyerReviews
