Rock GardensA Poem by James William DyerThis poem is about the restrictions of relationships, the confinement of love, and how there can be beauty in that....but not much.
Those were lullaby moments we had, Pretending as we did those rocking chair thoughts, Those tending-the-gardens-late-in-life thoughts. Those rock garden thoughts are stones impinged in the soil; They never release the plants to their own pattern. The stone confines of a prison, Ringed around a tree and made pretty. A prison of flowers made to sit nice. © 2012 James William Dyer |
