Beyond The GatesA Poem by JamesCliderA retelling of Orpheus and Eurydice's episode.
I have lived a life that shouldn't have,
a life that ends before fate. But when you walked right through that light, what did you see beyond the gate? I saw heaven, between the skies, the river of Eden flows, and right beside her nourishment the fruit of knowledge grows. I saw Valhalla, the Valkyrie's home, but no wars were concern. Though there's one lass, who wept alone waiting for her love's return. I saw Zion, the holy throne his daughter to be engaged. But when thus be, nobody knows not even the wisest sage. But within all that I saw a beauty, her elegance enchants me through. To put it simply I saw a goddess, beyond the gates, I saw you. But seeing is different from being there, to you I have a question. How was it like, of feeling light? And was it worth the mention? Beyond the gates as you described, the truth and none another. My afterlife may be concise, but it was torn asunder. The very second you made that choice, to disregard law and order. To temper with the influence of God, to be your very own master. I know with love you reached for me, I know you very well. To put it simply, the moment you came. Beyond the gates, I see hell. © 2014 JamesCliderReviews
