A Poem by James Mayfield

What is humanity?

Is it simply an act of human kindness?

We live in a world where kindness is not absolute

We see Mother Theresa

And then we think of Adolf Hitler.

Martin Luther King Jr.

we go to Pol Pot.

There is no inherent goodness in man

it is just imagined.

For all of our saints

I dare you

Try and number them

against our Sinners

Very true the perils of world where the balance of good and evil is askew.

Your rhetoric, some would say, doesn't hold much water. It's either that, or they'd condemn you for your rather pessimistic viewpoint. I beg to differ rather. I view your words as pure existentialism at its ongoing dark humour. Really, it's amazing how much of Samuel Beckett's undertone you tend to carry.

I hear you. I believe that it is indeed an effort to be better. The world is full of both: the good and the bad.
