Locked In

Locked In

A Poem by Edmond Dantes
"

After watching 30minutes of The diving Bell and the Butterfly, I had to write this. I then had to go read his book which was even better. All hail to Jean-Dominic Bauby!

"
Im locked in
This maze
Rat race
With no end
I want to take out my elephant-sized bazooka and blow a hole in the wall
And make my escape
No goodbyes and no more cries
I got to get this savage beast
Off my back
Plan my attack
If the bazooka doesnt work
I have a couple of friends with sledgehammers and bats
Unlock or fade away gentle into that good night
With no use of my arms, legs, mouthparalyzed from head to toe
All I have is my eyes and thoughts
My internal computer works fine,
The doctors tell me theres hope, hope for whatto take a piss?
To let them finally know-
Ive been screaming inside
To have the nurse come in-
She cant hear me yell:
Shut that f*****g thing off!
Always turning on some horrible cartoon about a cat and mouse chasing and killing each other endlessly-
I want to be killed.
Please nurse come here, stop fiddling with that T.V. or my piss container-
Take my pillow and place it over my face and PUSH,
HARDHOLD IT!
Itll only take a minute
Please dont leave, AHHHHHHH!
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Whats the point?
I cant talk; I cant standmy c**k is useless and I cant even wipe my own a*s
Im like a giant infant.
I keep remembering that scary Metallica music video for their song One
I feel like that.
A man with no arms, no legs, in complete bandagescant see a thingtormented by demons.
I think of how my girlfriend hasnt come to visit yetshe doesnt want to see me in this vegetative state.
Which one am I, eggplant or the squash?
Just throw me against a brick wall.
You dont give a f**k,
Let me rottrapped within. .

Perhaps the unkindestf ate that can befall anyone. I hope that this is not based on peersonal experiece of knowing someone in this state Lingering in between life and death and longing for release
If a animal was allowed to suffer in this way there would be hell to pay.I am pro euthanasia in cases hwere there is no hope The one thing that is doubtful how would we know aht the sufferer wanted if he could not tell us

This is harsh. Very harsh. But impossible to stop reading. I loved the way you expressed the frustration..but still found other beats..(beats being the changes in emotion, be it subtle or major) very nice.

Wow... this is so sad, angry, moving..etc etc.. so many emotions to list... the part about the girlfriend not even visiting is realy poignant... we would never want to see the one we loved in that state..... very powerful write
