Inspired by the last line of Robert Frost's 'Fire & Ice' (Destruction ice is also great and would suffice).
The Ice Age Returns (Destruction ice is also great and would suffice) The remnants of planet earth frozen at its outer core Perils of the human condition Surviving is a chore Hide yourself behind domes of concrete No sunlight & no going outside for meat Hark! Go underground & say goodbye to clean fresh air skin patsy pale; disheveled wrecks Dreaming of warm rays Blue skiesgreen fields & hot summer days Anything but ice! snow falling at a torrid pace howling winds Any skin left exposed begins To become chapped & cracked bodies left frozen our human will is attacked! Whoever dreamed of hell should have envisioned this How much longer can I exist? a frozen tear falls, As Im currently writing this.
We know this is coming, but like everything else..
unless it effects us NOW we don't give it much value,
and that's a problem and why we are in the condition
we are in. We (general sense) really only care about
how we are effected in the moment. And that's scary. Truly.
This is awesome Jake! Your flow glides smoothly
throughout.. without effort. Nice. And your message is
indeed something to ponder and remember ...
each moment, of each day.
This piece is great, it's especially relevant due to the climate changes of today! A very beautiful poem, I actually shivered because you portrayed an icy, harsh and unforgiving world so brilliantly.
However, I'm not sure the 'as I am writing this' part fitted in with the rest of the story, really. It just didn't seem to fit in with the story's general aesthetic. None the less, this was very hard-hitting.
Thanks for sharing!
Very nice S-Man!
Yes, at this point, global warming is more a certainty than a possibility.
What a wonderful legacy the generations responsible (including ours) will leave, if there is anyone to leave it to that is.
Very nice one here Edmund. I enjoyed reading this. Such a shame that our world is already like this, people hiding in house, behind video games and tvs. No hiking or riding or working outside anymore. Before too long, there will be no more farmland to work on.
