You're In My Reach

You're In My Reach

A Poem by Jake Stance
"

I wrote this for the love of my life

"
I drown myself in your eyes, every time I see them.
And I savor these moments, because love is paper thin.
But we make this work, we're as thick as blood.

These secrets can't be held in my arms, but you can.
And I don't feel like letting go, so you're here to stay.
You think that I will loosen my grip, but I only tighten.

Our hands are star-crossed lovers,
They just can't seem to get enough of each other.
So let's give them what they want.

Like sinking ships, are your luscious lips.
They're so beautiful and daring, so warm and inviting.
Grant me this wish, and grace me with your kiss.

Sometimes it's hard to sleep at night,
Because the thoughts of you flood my mind.
But when I sleep, I dream, and they're always about you.

I don't feel I deserve you, but I will always try.
I wish I was perfect, at least perfect for you.
And my heart longs for you, and you give it it's fill.
