Dusk

Dusk

A Poem by Jake M

The clock is taunting while it ticks
Pieces of my spirit fill the glass
Saved for a soul to help complete
It runneth over as the hours pass

What deal do I have to make
What entity can help reform
Can craft a stronger heart
Save me from this husk that I adorn

Locked in twilight, I await
A story beat to be revealed
Will the final hour be too late
How long must slumber be my shield

Can Heaven hear me in the clouds
Is there a father who would come
Is He a figment of my dreams
A promised land we've never won

To move from twilight to the dark
May be worth the endless night
Why wait forever in between
When teased forever by the light

Really enjoyable contemplative read. I loved the self questioning and reflection. It definitely made me think, particularly the last section. The last section seemed so perfect as a final contemplative thought.
